Program Introduction

PhD Human Nutrition and Dietetics Program at the School of Food and Agricultural Sciences (SFAS) offers the opportunity to graduate students providing a comprehensive educational experience in the domain of Human Nutrition and Dietetics. The program emphasizes tailoring the knowledge, research, and professional training of our graduates. The program will also help explore new research opportunities in many areas of nutritional studies such as the role of human nutrition and dietetics in developing strategies for curtailing global nutrition and health issues, promoting sports and exercise nutrition, and the use of various food components in developing functional foods and nutraceutical.  

With the PhD Human Nutrition and Dietetics program, the School of Food and Agricultural Sciences provides a more advanced experience for doctoral students in research approaches to design innovative strategies for facing the challenges related to the domain of Nutrition and Dietetics along with the provision of practically applicable solutions. This is the key to success and most of the students do believe in practical knowledge rather than being exposed to only the theoretical components of the program.

Program Details

3 years

Minimum CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0 in Semester system) or first division in the Annual System in MS/MSc. (Hons) Human Nutrition & Dietetics, Nutrition Sciences, Human Nutrition, Food & Nutrition, Food Technology, Food Science and Technology, Agriculture (Specializing in Food Technology), Food Science and Technology, Home Economics (Food and Nutrition). The applicant must possess a Master's (MS/MSc.) degree in relevant disciplines or 18 years of education in the said programs with no 2nd Division in any degree/certificate.

GAT(Subject) / UMT Graduate Admission Test is mandatory.

Interview (Panel Interview performance will play a crucial role in student selection)

Any other requirement as specified by the Department or regulatory body.
